Welcome! If you have found my little corner of the interwebs, then you most likely care about fantastic coffee like I do! I am not afraid to admit it -I am a coffee nerd and I want to provide you with exceptionally roasted coffee. I am also a small batch roaster, which means I can leverage my nimble roasting setup to customize roasts to your taste!
So here is how this works: I identify a FANTASTIC single-origin coffee that I will feature for a time as our Night Owl Coffee Spotlight. You let me know about your roast preferences and I will work to craft you the perfect roast on our Spotlight coffee. If it turns out that you prefer coffee from a different origin, then let me know and I will work to feature that origin in an upcoming Spotlight. If it turns out that you are adventurer and open to trying new origins, then come along for the ride! Either way, welcome to the Night Owl journey! If you have not already done so, fill out this brief Roast Preference Form to let me know about your coffee preferences!
Oh, and let's talk about price. I want to keep it simple and reasonable, so I sell 14oz bags for $14. While this is more expensive than some store-bought coffee, I think you will find that this much more affordable than the big name roasters out there. Also, I am selling 14oz of single-origin, high quality, coffee (not 12oz like the big name guys) so that you get more bang your buck, and of course, I only source Fair Trade Certified coffee so that our farmers are taken care of! Research the store-bought stuff and find out if it is Fair Trade Certified. Many are not which often indicates profits take precedence over the hardworking farmers and their communities.

GEOGRAPHY:
Region Tarrazú
Altitude 1200-1750
PRODUCER:
San Diego Mill, Various smallholders
VARIETY:
Caturra, Catuai
PROCESSING:
Natural
HARVEST TIME:
November - March
This natural (dry) processed coffee was cultivated by growers in Costa Rica’s Tarrazú region. The smallholders delivered cherry to the San Diego mill and to its satellite receiving stations. Once at the mill, the cherries were sorted, holding back only ripe red cherries for this micro-lot. The cherries were then laid out with the fruit intact and turned regularly to promote even drying and air circulation. After hulling, the coffee was cupped by the quality control team at San Diego and finally sorted to prepare this wild, bold, fruit-forward coffee.
The San Diego Mill is the most modern mill in Costa Rica. Established in 1888, San Diego has been innovating for well over a century. Today San Diego specializes in coffees from the Tarrazú and Tres Rios regions. The mill takes pride in striving for ever increasing efficiency and quality standards. At the same time the mill has taken a leading role in working with producers to ensure good community relations and sustainable production.
